Callow and Pickup join Godot cast

Simon Callow and Ronald Pickup

Simon Callow and Ronald Pickup have joined the cast of a new production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot.

They join Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, who were announced in the lead roles last year.

The play, which opens at Malvern Theatres on 5 March, follows two days in the lives of two friends waiting expectantly for the mysterious Godot.

Four Weddings And a Funeral actor Callow recently starred in a production of Peter Shaffer's Equus.

In 2008, Pickup appeared in TV dramas New Tricks and Midsomer Murders and recently filmed Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which is due to be released in 2009.

Waiting for Godot will play at London's Theatre Royal Haymarket from 30 April and will go on to visit Milton Keynes, Brighton, Bath, Norwich, Edinburgh and Newcastle.
