Role Models lead UK box office

Seann William Scott and Paul Rudd star in the comedy

Seann William Scott and Paul Rudd comedy Role Models has topped the UK box office in its opening weekend.

The film about two salesmen forced to do community service on a mentorship programme took £2.3m over three days.

It held off competition from Danny Boyle's Golden Globe-winning film Slumdog Millionaire, which opened at number two taking £1.8m.

Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway comedy Bride Wars entered the chart at number three, taking £1.7m.

Daniel Craig drama Defiance was another new entry in the top 10 at number four with last week's number one, Yes Men, falling to number five.

Teen comedy Sex Drive also just made the top 10 as the lowest new entry in the chart.
