Hollywood actress Jennifer Love Hewitt has won a three-year restraining order against a 62-year-old man she says has been stalking her.

Court documents show that David Nolte moved from Colorado to Los Angeles to be closer to Hewitt.

A series of letters allegedly from Mr Nolte and describing violent and sexual fantasies were also submitted.

Hewitt, who currently stars in the TV series The Ghost Whisperer, told a judge her fears had recently increased.

Her court submission described how Mr Nolte appeared at her mother's home in late December.

In 2003, a woman pleaded guilty to stalking Hewitt.

Diana Napolis from San Diego was handed five years' probation and barred from having any contact with the actress.
