One of Britain's greatest playwrights, Harold Pinter, has died. He was 78 and had been having treatment for liver cancer.
Pinter also excelled as an actor and director, but it was his ground-breaking plays, such as the Birthday Party and The Caretaker, which made the biggest impact.
The adjective "Pinteresque" even merited an entry in the Oxford English Dictionary.
