Actor Jack Black is to guest star in an hour-long episode of the hit US version of The Office.

The 39-year-old Tropic Thunder star will feature in the show due to air after the NFL Super Bowl on 1 February.

The episode, titled Stress Relief, will follow the beleaguered office workers as they try to secretly watch a bootlegged Hollywood movie at work.

Network NBC did not say what Black's role would be, but added "other notable Hollywood actors" would also feature.

While better known for his film credits, including King Kong and School of Rock, Black has made several previous TV appearances.

He lent his voice to The Simpsons in 2007 and also appeared in episodes of sitcom Will and Grace and cult show X Files.
