Braxton tells of breast operation

Toni Braxton
Braxton is still scheduled to appear on the Dancing with the Stars tour

Singer Toni Braxton has revealed she had a benign tumour removed from her breast shortly after leaving the US version of Strictly Come Dancing.

The 41-year-old told Us Weekly magazine she knew about the tumour before appearing on Dancing with the Stars.

She scheduled the surgery after exiting the competition in October.

"Getting the boot was a blessing in disguise for me," she told the magazine. "My grandmother on my dad's side died of breast cancer."

US TV presenter Brooke Burke was crowned Dancing with the Stars champion on the series finale last month.

The singer is still scheduled to appear on the Dancing with the Stars tour, which kicks off in San Diego on 17 December.

The six-time Grammy winner is best known for songs including Un-Break My Heart and Breathe Again.
