Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed she is "supporting" her friend Madonna through her divorce from husband Guy Ritchie.

At the UK premiere of her film, Two Lovers, she said: "She's a very good friend. I'm supporting her in all the ways that I can. I'm just there."

The pair, who have been friends for years, both married British men and share a love for yoga.

Paltrow's new film is about a heartbroken man torn between two women.

Vast fortune

The star, who is due to start work on Iron Man II next year, said she had no intention of overworking.

"I'll never do the five-movies-a-year thing ever again but one or two good ones, I'm game."

Last week, Madonna and film director Ritchie announced they were splitting up after nearly eight years of marriage.

The couple, who are reportedly worth around £300m, with the majority earned by Madonna, have a seven-year-old son called Rocco.

Ritchie has also helped to raise Madonna's 12-year-old daughter, Lourdes.

The pair also adopted three-year-old David Banda from Malawi in 2006.

They are yet to reach a deal over how to share their fortune and custody of their children.
