Will Ferrell's Step Brothers recently hit number one in the UK box office

Will Ferrell is set to make his Broadway debut in a new solo comedy show called You’re Welcome America - A Final Night With George W Bush.

The show will be produced by Adam McKay, Ferrell’s collaborator on films Step Brothers and Anchorman.

Ferrell and McKay also worked together on US TV show Saturday Night Live and co-founded comedy website Funny or Die.

The production will open to the public at the Cort Theatre on 1 February, with previews from 20 January.

It is expected that Ferrell and McKay will write the show's script, following up on their previous screenwriting work for their cinematic outings.

Ferrell's impersonation of President Bush has become a hit on YouTube, with close to 5.5 million views.

The actor's latest comic caper Step Brothers made its debut in the UK and Ireland box office at number one last month.
