Depeche Mode
The band will play 28 cities across 28 countries

Electro-pop veterans Depeche Mode have announced are to play their first ever stadium tour next year - but the sole UK date will be at London's 02 arena.

The British band, known for hits like Personal Jesus and Just Can't Get Enough, will play six nights in Germany in addition to the UK date on 30 May.

The group's last tour, in 2006, shifted 1.8 million tickets for 87 shows across the continent.

They are currently working on a new album, which is due out in April 2009.

The "Tour Of The Universe 2009" will take in 28 cities across 22 countries, beginning in Israel on 10 May.

The last date of the band's 2006 tour had also been due to take place in Israel - at Tel Aviv's Hayarkon Park, but they were forced to cancel over security concerns.

Next year the band will play at the region's Ramat Gan Stadium.

The tour will end in July at Porto's Superbock Super Rock Festival in Portugal.
