More changes at Radio 1
BBC Radio 1 DJ Clive Warren is to leave the station after six years as his contract comes to an end.

The presenter - who has acted as a stand-in on top-rated shows including the UK Top 40 - follows world music specialist Andy Kershaw in leaving the national pop station.

At the same time, the station's controller, Andy Parfitt, unveiled two new signings for the station as he ups its quota of dance music.

Vicky Marsden comes from Napa FM, which broadcasts to clubbers' holiday island Ayia Napa.

She said: "There I was, chilling on Napa FM when I got the call to join Radio 1. It's unreal, but I'm just so excited."

Nemone Metaxas, a keen athlete, comes from Manchester's Galaxy 102.

Parfitt said: "Nemone and Vicky are perfect additions to the Radio 1 family. They are going to become big favourites on the station.

"They join Sara Cox, the Dreem Teem, Sarah HB and Seb Fontaine as members of the class of 2000."

He also announced that Andy Kershaw's show will be replaced by a world dance music series, One World.

Fern cooks up a wedding

Ready Steady Cook and This Morning presenter Fern Britton has confirmed that she and TV chef Phil Vickery were married on Wednesday.

The couple tied the knot at their local register office in High Wycombe, Bucks, in a "very intimate and romantic event" according to her spokeswoman.

"There are no plans for a honeymoon at present," she added.

The 41-year-old TV star recently divorced TV executive Clive Jones, from whom she separated in January 1998 after 12 years of marriage.

Perry transplant claim denied

A spokeswoman for Friends star Matthew Perry has denied he is in hospital and awaiting a liver transplant.

Perry, 30, who plays Chandler in the hit show, spent two weeks in a Los Angeles hospital after being admitted with stomach cramps.

Reacting to reports, the spokeswoman said: "It is completely untrue he needs a liver transplant."

Perry left hospital a few days ago and was now feeling fine, she added.

Britney spears sales record

Teen star Britney Spears' new album Oops! I Did It Again - which has just been released in the UK - has set a new sales record in the US.

In its first week on the market, it sold 1.3 million copies - the highest ever one-week figure for a female artist, analysts Soundscan say.

It is in second place behind N'Sync's No Strings Attached, which sold 2.4 million copies in one week earlier this year.

The Backstreet Boys' Millennium is third with 1.1m.

Lopez is 'sexiest woman'

Jennifer Lopez has been named the sexiest woman in the world, according to an annual poll of FHM readers.

Lopez, who has reportedly insured her body for $1 billion (625m), only reached 32nd place in last year's poll.

Britney Spears made this year's number two, while last year's winner Sarah Michelle Gellar dropped to number three.

Former Big Breakfast presenter and model Kelly Brook was the highest placed British star, in fifth place.

Kiss ginger up Auburn Hills

Outrageous 1970s rock band Kiss returned to the scene of one of their greatest successes on Thursday night to mark another step on their farewell tour.

The legendary group played Detroit's Palace of Auburn Hills, where they recorded one of their most popular hits, Detroit Rock City, in 1976.

The tour kicked off in March but despite speculation on the band's official UK web site, no dates for a European leg have been released.

Ride with Von Trier

Award-winning film-maker Lars Von Trier is in talks with a Copenhagen theme park over the creation of a new ride.

The film director may help design an interactive ride called Roll O'Matic, his production company Zentropa says.

The Tivoli Gardens - Europe's third biggest theme park - said talks were continuing but it hoped to build the new ride by 2002.

Von Trier's latest film Dancer In The Dark won the Palme d'Or at Cannes.

Stroll with Santana

Carlos Santana - whose recent album Supernatural received a Grammy for best album - is launching his own range of fashionable footwear.

St Louis-based Brown Shoe Co announced that they are to make Santana's range of male and female shoes, which have a "multicultural influence".

Part of the sales from the shoes will go to the Milagro Foundation which was founded by Santana and his wife in 1998 to help disadvantaged young people.
