Chesney up for seven music awards

US singer Kenny Chesney will lead the field at this year's Country Music Association (CMA) awards, having been shortlisted for seven prizes.

The 40-year-old, best known in the UK for his brief marriage to actress Renee Zellweger, is up for the CMA's album, single and male vocalist of the year.

He is also up for entertainer of the year, a prize he won in 2006 and 2007.

"It's always a thrill to see people are recognise what we're all trying to do," said the Tennessee-born performer.
