The parents of an assistant propmaster who was killed in an accident during the filming of The Kingdom are suing the movie's director, Peter Berg.

Twenty-five-year-old Nick Papac died when a vehicle he was travelling in collided with Berg's in 2006.

His parents, Mike Papac and Michele Bell, have filed a legal case against the director, a driver and a production company in Los Angeles Superior Court.

They are seeking an unspecified amount, including costs for the funeral.

The accident happened once filming had finished for the day.

A statement released by the film-makers at the time said Papac was attended to by paramedics soon after the crash, but he died later in hospital.

Mike Papac is also a longtime Hollywood propmaster who, according to studio officials, was at his son's side when he died.

Berg, whose directing credits include Hancock, was not injured in the crash.

His lawyer was not available to comment.
