Usher re-hires mother as manager

Usher said he originally sacked Patton to strengthen family ties

US R&B singer Usher has re-hired his mother as his manager - a year after he fired her.

At the time, Usher denied rumours Jonnetta Patton was sacked due to a rift between her and his then fiancee, stylist Tameka Foster.

Benny Medina, who has become the latest manager to be fired, worked with the star on his latest album, Here I Stand.

It sold over 900,000 copies in the first 10 weeks on sale. Usher's 2004 Confessions album sold 3.77 million.

Ms Patton became Usher's manager when he started his career over 15 years ago.

She was sacked by the five time Grammy-award winner last year, around the same time he became engaged to Ms Foster.

The couple postponed their wedding and then later wed in a quiet civil ceremony in August 2007.

The following month they had their dream wedding which Usher's mother reportedly did not attend.

In November 2007 the couple had their first child, Usher Raymond V.
