Salma Hayek calls off engagement

Actress Hayek has also starred in hit TV show Ugly Betty

Actress Salma Hayek has called off her engagement to businessman Francois-Henri Pinault, her publicist has said.

Cari Ross declined to give any further comment as to why the Mexican-born star made the decision.

The pair, who have a baby daughter named Valentina, announced their plans to marry in March 2007.

Hayek, 41, is best known for portraying artist Frida Kahlo on the big screen and being one of the excecutive producers of hit US TV show Ugly Betty.

Pinault is the director of a luxury goods company which owns brands including Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent.
