Redmond O'Neal escapes jail term

The son of Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal has admitted to driving while under the influence of drugs and to possessing heroin and crystal meth.

Police arrested Redmond O'Neal on 26 January after they caught him speeding in Malibu in California.

The 23-year-old has been placed on three years' probation and was also fined $1,700 (£850).

The judge also ordered O'Neal to attend a drug treatment programme until another hearing next month.
