US rapper Warren G, whose real name is Warren Griffin III, was arrested in Hollywood on Sunday after police found a large amount of marijuana in his car.

Officers originally stopped the vehicle on suspicion of jumping a red light near Hollywood Boulevard in LA.

Driver Ryan Butler, 29, and Warren G were released on bail later that day after paying $20,000 (£10,000) each.

Warren G, whose hits include Regulate and a hip-hop remake of I Shot the Sheriff, is due in court next week.

Los Angeles Police Officer Sara Faden said: "Officers searched the car and found enough marijuana to arrest them for possession with intent to sell."

Griffin, 35, grew up in Long Beach and is known for helping popularise G-funk rap, a West Coast-branded style of hip-hop that emerged in the early 90s.
