Margot Boyd, who played countrywoman Mrs Antrobus for 20 years in Radio 4's The Archers, has died at the age of 94.
Vanessa Whitburn, editor of The Archers, described the actress as a "consummate professional".
During her career, Boyd worked with George Bernard Shaw, Noel Coward, Michael Redgrave, Vivien Leigh, James Stewart and Kenneth More.
Boyd, whose real name was Beryl Billings, died in Middlesex.
Ms Whitburn said: "I greatly enjoyed working with Margot.
"She had enjoyed a distinguished theatrical and film career as well as a long career in radio drama. My thoughts and best wishes are with her family and friends at this sad time."
