Fantastique: Britney celebrates her success in Paris
Teenage chart-topper Britney Spears has done it again, taking the UK number one slot for the third time.

The US star knocked dance act Oxide & Neutrino from the top after just one week to get her hat trick with the song Oops!...I Did It Again.

Southern star: Britney scooped four MTV awards
Last year she had the biggest selling single in the UK with her debut release Baby...One More Time and topped the charts again with Born To Make You Happy,

Britney said: "I'm really excited to get a third number one. I'd like to thank all my fans for going out to buy the single."

By midweek the US singer was outselling Oxide and Neutrino by three-to-one.

Her singles success has put her in line for a fourth number one, with her new album, also called Oops!...I Did It Again, out on 15 May.

Royal favourite

Britney, 18, from Louisiana, has become the most played pop artist in the USA and has earned an estimated 10m thanks to chart-topping hits and spin-off deals worth a further 4m with Clairol, Polaroid, Tommy Jeans and America's Get Milk advertising campaign.

She also gathered an awesome array of awards last year, including Female Artist of the Year and New Artist of the Year at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas and Best Pop Act, Best Female Performer, Best Breakthrough Act and Best Song for Baby...One More Time, at the MTV Europe awards in Dublin.
