McGregor could star as an aide to the Pope
Ewan McGregor is in talks to star in Angels & Demons, the prequel to The Da Vinci Code, according to reports.
The 37-year-old star could play an aide to the Pope in the movie, industry magazine The Hollywood Reporter said.
Angels & Demons sees Tom Hanks reprise his role as symbologist Robert Langdon, who tries to solve a murder and unravel a plot to blow up the Vatican.
Filming is due to begin in Europe in June and the movie is expected to be released in May 2009.
The film was originally due to be released this Christmas, but was delayed due to the Hollywood writer's strike.
Munich star Ayelet Zurer will also star in the movie, playing Langdon's sidekick, a woman who is trying to uncover the mystery of her father's murder.
McGregor can currently be seen alongside Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams in Deception.
