CNN reporter arrested for drugs

A New York judge has ordered CNN reporter Richard Quest to undergo six months of counselling after being arrested for possession of drugs.

The 46-year-old British reporter was arrested on Friday in Central Park after breaking its 1am curfew.

Police spokesman John Grimphel said officers discovered a plastic bag containing what was believed to be methamphetamine in his pocket.

Mr Quest's lawyer said his client "did not realise" the park had a curfew.

Alan Abramson added Mr Quest had been on his way back to his hotel after being out with friends.

State Court Judge Anthony Ferrara told Mr Quest the case would be dismissed if he attended counselling.

Mr Quest, who worked at the BBC during the 90s, is a well-known business news reporter on CNN International and hosts CNN Business Traveller and his own feature program called Quest.
