  4. Heston Blumenthal is up for the award for his BBC Two series In Search of Perfection. Channel 4's The Secret Millionaire and BBC Two's Top Gear are also in the running.

  6. It's Extras star Ricky Gervais. He is conspicuously absent from this year's shortlist after being a regular nominee and winner for the past five years. His co-star Stephen Merchant makes the cut.
  7. Bruce Parry is the host of Tribe, in which he experiences life first-hand with indigenous peoples around the world.
  8. James Purefoy played the role of Marc Antony. Ray Stevenson portrayed Titus Pullo while Ciaran Hands was ill-fated Emperor Julius Caesar in the historical series.
  9. The drama, which starred Robert Lindsay as the former Prime Minister, has given the digital station its only Bafta nomination.
  10. Russell Brand's Ponderland saw the comic talk on a range of topics in a stand-up routine and was shown on Channel 4.
