Madonna unveiled her directorial debut at the Berlin Film Festival on Thursday and received a mixed reception from many movie critics.
Comedy drama Filth and Wisdom stars Eugene Hutz as a Ukrainian immigrant who dreams of becoming a rock star.
"The reception from Berlin has been more than I could ask for," she told BBC reporter Rebecca Jones.
But British reviews were scathing. The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw described the London-based drama as "dumb and tacky".
