Hip-hop star jailed on gun charge
The Game
2005's The Documentary earned the rapper Grammy nominations
US rapper The Game has been jailed for 60 days after he admitted possessing a gun at a basketball game at a school.

The rapper, 28, was charged with the offence after he allegedly pulled a gun on an opponent while playing basketball at a Los Angeles school last February.

The Game - real name Jayceon Terrell Taylor - was also given 150 hours of community service and ordered to spend three years on probation.

Two further charges were dismissed under a plea bargain.

Grammy nominations

Opponent Rodrick Shannon told a hearing in September the rapper had hit him in the face during the game at Rita Walters Educational Complex.

After a heated exchange, The Game had fetched his gun from the car park and threatened Mr Shannon with it, the court heard.

The Game, who received two Grammy nominations for his 2005 debut album The Documentary, pleaded not guilty to pulling the gun on Shannon.

Also in September, The Game, a protege of fellow hip-hop star 50 Cent, was given a conditional discharge at a court in Manhattan, New York, for impersonating a police officer in 2006.

Police told the court the rapper had ordered a taxi driver to run several red lights after telling him he was an undercover officer.
