Actress Eva Mendes 'enters rehab'

Eva Mendes is seeking "outside professional support"

Actress Eva Mendes has checked into a rehabilitation clinic in Utah, according to reports from the US.

Celebrity websites say the 33-year-old actress has entered the Cirque Lodge centre, where fellow actress Lindsay Lohan was treated last year.

Mendes' publicist said in a statement that she was taking time off to "attend to some personal issues".

The Cuban-American actress starred in four movies in 2007 including Ghost Rider and We Own the Night.

She has recently finished work on two more films, The Women and The Spirit.

Her publicist Brad Cafarelli said: "Eva has been working hard for the past year and made a positive decision to take some much-needed time off to proactively attend to some personal issues that, while not critical, she felt deserved some outside professional support."

Mendes was this week named as the face of a forthcoming Calvin Klein perfume campaign.

The company issued a statement saying: "We support Eva during this difficult time and respect her decision to seek professional help."
