Nicole Richie gives birth to girl

The couple revealed the pregnancy back in August

US reality TV star Nicole Richie and her rock star boyfriend Joel Madden have had a baby girl, according to People magazine.

Richie, the daughter of soul singer Lionel Richie has named her daughter Harlow Winter Kate Madden.

Speaking to the publication, Madden said: "We are very blessed she's healthy and beautiful."

A spokesman for Richie and Madden has confirmed the couple have now left the hospital in Los Angeles.

Richie, 26, revealed she was pregnant in August as a court case and the prospect of a prison sentence loomed over her for charges of driving under the influence.

She was later handed a four-day jail term but served just 82 minutes behind bars before being released.
