Actress Nicole Kidman is pregnant

Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman is expecting a baby with her husband, country singer Keith Urban.

Kidman, 40, told reporters in Sydney she was "very excited". Asked the sex of the baby, she replied "secret".

She adopted two children with former husband Tom Cruise but revealed last year she had had two miscarriages in their 10-year relationship.

Kidman, who recently finished playing a British aristocrat in Baz Luhrmann epic Australia, married Urban in 2006.

Her publicist Wendy Day said: "Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban confirmed today that they are expecting a baby. The couple are thrilled."

In November, Kidman - who won her Academy Award in 2003 for The Hours - told a woman's magazine she would love to have a child with Urban.

Kidman recently completed a part in a Baz Luhrmann film

"What will be will be. It's in God's hands," she said.

Urban, one of country music's biggest stars, has won a Grammy Award and was named vocalist of the year at the Annual Country Music Association Awards in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

But he was unable to attend the ceremony in November 2006 as he was undergoing rehabilitation treatment for alcohol abuse.
