Mick Jagger has resumed his holiday abroad after dashing back to London to be at the hospital bedside of his sick mother.

The Rolling Stones frontman was thought to be in France when he received a call telling him to return to the UK, amid concerns about 87-year-old Eva's health.

She is being treated for a heart condition at the private Parkside Hopsital in Wimbledon, south London.

Mick, 56, is believed to have spent time with his brother, Chris, and other members of his family at her bedside.

Jagger: "Son, not a star"

A spokeswoman for the performer said: "I can confirm that Eva Jagger is in the Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon.

"We wish that the media would respect the privacy of all members of the Jagger family."

Hospital spokeswoman Sara Pearson said the rock star had now returned abroad.

"Mrs Jagger is receiving nursing care. Mick Jagger interrupted his vacation to come back to see her. He has now resumed his engagements abroad," she added.

School visit

Eva was last seen in public two weeks ago, when she and her husband Joe, also 87, accompanied Mick on a visit to his old school in Dartford, Kent to open a community arts centre.

The couple live close to their famous son's mansion in Richmond, south west London.

Eva, who has followed her son's career closely since the beginning, once said in an interview: "People are always asking what it's like to have a famous son.

"The answer is simple - to me he's just a son. I don't think of him as a star."
