Rap star Brown finally in court
Foxy Brown
Brown's new album, Brooklyn's Don Diva, is due out in November
Rapper Foxy Brown has finally appeared in a New York court to face assault charges four days after she refused to travel to the hearing on a prison bus.

The rapper, 28, pleaded not guilty to assault charges stemming from a dispute over the volume of her car radio.

After she refused to attend court last week, prosecutors threatened to place her on a bus in handcuffs for the rescheduled hearing.

She is currently serving a year in jail for violating her probation terms.

The musician - real name Inga Marchand - skipped anger management classes and travelled out of New York without permission.

Her probation related to a fight with two manicurists at a hair salon in 2004.

Prior to being jailed, Ms Marchand was arrested in Brooklyn after allegedly hitting a woman with a mobile phone during a fight over the volume of her car stereo.

She denies charges of assault, attempted assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon - the mobile phone.

Judge John Ingram ordered Ms Marchand to be back in court on 17 December.
