Hip-hop artist Lil' Wayne has been arrested after a concert in Idaho on a warrant stemming from a drug possession charge, authorities have said.
Lil' Wayne's singles include The Block Is Hot and Go DJ
The star, 25, was charged with being a fugitive after authorities in the state of Georgia accused him of possessing a controlled substance.
Because of the nature of the charges, the rapper - real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr - was not eligible for bail.
He is scheduled to be formally charged on Tuesday.
Better known in the US than Europe, Lil' Wayne's hits include The Block Is Hot and Go DJ.
He is also the president of New Orleans-based record label Cash Money Records, part of the Universal Music Group.
The rapper is nominated for seven prizes at next week's Black Entertainment TV (BET) Hip-Hop Awards in the US.
It is not known whether the arrest will affect his ability to attend the ceremony, where he is also expected to perform.
