British actor Michael Evans, who starred on Broadway in Gigi opposite Audrey Hepburn, has died aged 87.
Evans also played Colonel Douglas Austin in long-running US soap opera The Young and the Restless.
He was born in Kent but moved to the US in the 1950s. His son Nick said his father died of age-related complications on 4 September.
Evans also appeared in numerous TV shows including Dr Kildare and The Man from UNCLE.
"Michael Evans was a total professional from the old English school, a gentleman through and through," said Eric Braeden, who co-starred in The Young and the Restless.
Broadway roles
Evans told the Toronto Star newspaper in 1992 that he decided to be an actor after seeing Sir John Gielgud on stage in Richard II.
During World War II, he was a Royal Air Force navigator and flew during the Blitz.
He made his stage debut in London in 1948 before moving to New York to star in Broadway show Ring Round the Moon.
His role alongside a young Audrey Hepburn in Gigi came along in 1951. He later played Henry Higgins in a touring production of My Fair Lady.
