Rap star The Game to stand trial
The Game
The Game is a two-time Grammy nominee
Rap star The Game is to stand trial in the US for allegedly threatening to shoot an opponent during a basketball game in Los Angeles.

He is charged with making criminal threats, exhibiting a firearm on the grounds of a facility for minors and possessing a firearm in a school zone.

The rapper, real name Jayceon Terrell Taylor, is due to appear in Los Angeles Superior Court on 25 September.

If convicted, the 27-year-old could face more than five years in prison.

The charges stem from a basketball game at an educational centre in South Los Angeles in February this year.

Taylor was arrested in May at his Los Angeles home and later freed after police bail was set at $50,000 (£25,000).

The hip-hop performer shot to stardom following the release of his debut album The Documentary in 2005, which earned him two Grammy nominations.

He has had several hits such as Hate It or Love It and How We Do.

Championed by rapper 50 Cent, the pair publicly fell out when 50 - real name Curtis Jackson - accused him of disloyalty.
