Terry Fator hopes more people will go to see his show now
Ventriloquist and impersonator Terry Fator has been crowned the winner of hit US TV show America's Got Talent.

Fator, who took up ventriloquism at the age of 10, impressed judges and the voting public with his impersonations of Tony Bennett and Nat King Cole.

The 42-year-old, who scooped a $1m (£0.49m) cash prize, said: "If you see me, you come up and shake my hand. I've been waiting for this for 32 years."

Singer and guitarist Cas Haley came second in the competition.

Fater said: "I think the way my life is going to change is people are going to start coming out to see my show.

All I've ever wanted is for people to come out and enjoy what I do."

Judge Sharon Osbourne said she was "surprised" at how quickly the final acts had developed.

Former UK newspaper editor Piers Morgan also sat on the judging panel. He said the competition was "incredibly close".

Former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff also helped judge the acts.

Last year 11-year-old singer Bianca Ryan won the competition.
