The 56-year-old Rolling Stone says the tribute is a great honour, but added that his days at Dartford Grammar School in Kent were far from happy.
"It really wasn't very pleasant," Jagger told the Times newspaper.

He told The Times of rebellious pupils and violent teachers, who all had their "own tortures".
"There were some who would just punch you. They'd slap your face so hard you'd go down," said the star.
"There were guerrilla skirmishes on all fronts with civil disobedience and undeclared war, between them throwing blackboard rubbers at us and us throwing them back," he added.

He also discloses that he organised a mass protest against "appalling" school dinners.
"It was probably the greatest contribution to school I ever made," said the singer.
Despite a promising start at school Jagger said his school work deteriorated because of "music and girls".
He left the school in 1961 with seven O-levels and two A-levels and first returned for a brief visit just two weeks ago.
On Thursday he will return to open the Mick Jagger Performing Arts Centre.
