Chanelle leaves Big Brother house

Ratings for the show are the lowest since it launched eight years ago
Victoria Beckham fan Chanelle Hayes has finally left the Big Brother house after saying she wanted to quit the Channel 4 reality show on Sunday.

The 19-year-old student from Yorkshire had enjoyed a romance with fellow housemate Ziggy Lichman, 26, which ended in the early hours of Sunday.

Her threats to leave followed a "make or break" chat with the former boy band member, whose real name is Zachary.

Chanelle spoke to Big Brother's psychologists before deciding to go.

Speaking to Big Brother, Chanelle said: "I'm grateful to have been here for nine weeks but I'm missing my family and friends.

Low ratings

"I can't live in the same house as Zac and he probably deserves to be here more than I do."

She added she was embarrassed at making "a fool of myself" but thanked the show for having her on it.

Audience figures for the show are at their lowest since the series launched eight years ago, with an average of 3.7m viewers tuning in each night.

Chanelle, who wants to be a professional Victoria Beckham look-a-like, earlier threatened to leave the house saying: "It's not a goodbye, it's a see you later."

Volatile housemate Charley was evicted on Friday night, when five new contestants joined the show, staying in the Big Brother "halfway house".
