Hollywood actress Naomi Watts has given birth to her first child, a boy named Alexander Pete Schreiber.
Watts was born in the UK but moved to Australia as a teenager
The 38-year-old Australian had her baby with film actor boyfriend Liev Schreiber. The couple appeared together in period drama The Painted Veil.
Alexander was born on Wednesday in Los Angeles and weighed 8lb and 4oz (3.7kg) Watts' publicist Robin Baum said.
Watts, who was born in the UK, has amassed on-screen credits including King Kong and The Ring.
Schreiber's credits include The Manchurian Candidate and Broadway play, Talk Radio.
The Painted Veil, based on Somerset Maughan's novel of the same name, saw Watts' character Kitty embark on an affair with a diplomat, played by Schreiber.
Edward Norton played Watts' husband, Walter.
Watts was born in Kent but moved to Australia with her family at the age of 14, where she first met close friend Nicole Kidman at a casting call.
Watts' previous boyfriends include actor Heath Ledger.
