US country singer Mindy McCready has been charged with battery and resisting arrest in Florida, authorities say.
The 31-year-old, whose biggest hit was Guys Do It All the Time, was arrested on Saturday morning and has been released on $1,000 (£486) bail.
Police declined to release details of the incident leading to her arrest.
McCready has had several run-ins with the law in recent years, beginning with a conviction for fraudulently obtaining prescription painkillers in 2004.
She was still on probation for that offence when she was charged with driving under the influence in May 2005.
The singer was acquitted of the latter charge, but found guilty of driving on a suspended licence.
The incident was one of two parole violations that led to an arrest warrant being issued for the singer in August 2005.
She was subsequently arrested and held for 10 days before being released on bail.
At a court appearance the following month, the singer revealed she had attempted to commit suicide after finding out she was pregnant.
The star has not released an album since 2002's Mindy McCready, which sold poorly and led to the end of her contract with Capitol Records.
