The latest Harry Potter film has just opened in the UK
A fly-on-the-wall documentary revealing the past 12 months of Harry Potter author JK Rowling's life will be broadcast on ITV1 in the autumn.

The show will give a rare insight into the writer's personal life and show her finishing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the final book in the series.

She recently revealed how she felt euphoric but "devastated" as she penned the last words of the story.

Potter fans are gearing up for the release of the last book on 21 July.

The latest film in the series, The Order of the Phoenix, which opened in US cinemas at midnight on Tuesday night, made a record-breaking $45m (22m) in its first day.

The movie opened in the UK on Thursday.

Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe will star as Rudyard Kipling's son in My Boy Jack, with Sex And The City actress Kim Cattrall playing his mother, in another show on ITV this autumn.

Also in the network's new schedule are big-budget costume dramas including adaptations of Charles Dickens's The Old Curiosity Shop starring Sir Derek Jacobi.

The EM Forster classic A Room With A View will be made for TV, featuring Timothy Spall and his son Rafe, while Helen McCrory will play a 21st Century female Dr Frankenstein.

In entertainment, The X Factor will return with new presenter Dermot O'Leary and judge Dannii Minogue.

Ant and Dec will host another series of the Saturday Night Takeaway as well as I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

Marco Pierre White will take over the new series of Hell's Kitchen and singer Elton John will appear in a documentary taking viewers on a "flamboyant, intimate and entertaining journey through his colourful life".
