Monroe umbrella sells for 21,000
An umbrella used by actress Marilyn Monroe in a 1949 picture shoot has sold for $42,000 (21,000) in an auction in the Beverly Hills Hotel in California.

The buyer, William Doyle, said he would display the umbrella at the Museum of Style Icons in Ireland.

A gold-plated gun which was owned by Elvis Presley went for $28,800 (14,500) while a microphone used by him sold for $15,000 (7,500).

Alfred Hitchcock's passport sold for $19,200 (9,700).
