Short return for Street stylist

Actress Nikki Sanderson is to make a brief return to Coronation Street as hairdresser Candice Stowe.

The star, whose character left to work as a stylist for Status Quo, will show up during the build-up to Sarah-Louise Platt's wedding later this year.

A spokesperson for the ITV soap said Sanderson, 23, would only return for "a brief stint".

Since quitting Coronation Street in 2005, Sanderson has worked as a model and television presenter.

At one point, she was rumoured to be replacing Billie Piper in Doctor Who - but the role eventually went to Freema Agyeman.

The actress also appeared in BBC dramas Holby City and New Street Law, and sang on a celebrity version of The X Factor.

ITV confirmed the actress would film her scenes later this year.
