Timberlake launches record label

Timberlake's first two solo albums have sold more than 13m copies

US pop star Justin Timberlake has joined forces with a rival music company to launch his own record label.

The SexyBack singer will sign artists and release their music through Tennman Records, a joint venture with Interscope Records.

Timberlake will serve as chairman and chief executive, a statement said.

He said: "We are all excited about the talent we have to offer already... and I cannot wait to introduce the world to my new discoveries."

Day-to-day operations will be handled by Ken Komisar, a former vice-president at Sony BMG Music Entertainment, who was named president of Tennman.

Timberlake's first two solo albums - 2002's Justified and last year's FutureSex/LoveSounds - have sold more than 13 million copies combined.
