Creed frontman on assault charge
Scott Stapp

Scott Stapp, former singer with the rock group Creed, has been arrested at his Florida home and charged with assault, authorities say.

The 33-year-old is being held without bail following the charges, which relate to domestic assault, according to a Palm Beach County jail official.

No-one was injured or taken to hospital following the alleged incident, said Sheriff's Office spokesman Paul Miller.

Creed sold 24 million albums in the US before they split in 2004.

Mr Stapp has since embarked on a solo career, releasing debut album The Great Divide in 2005.

He married former Miss New York Jaclyn Nesheiwat in 2006 and the couple had a baby daughter earlier this year.

Nesheiwat declined to comment on her husband's arrest, telling the Palm Beach Post "it's just a rough time".

Police declined to identify the victim and said they had no information about any physical violence.

Mr Stapp's manager was also unavailable for comment.
