Street role for TV comic Hughes
Sean Hughes
Hughes is a regular on TV show The Last Detective
Comic Sean Hughes is joining hit soap Coronation Street, ITV has confirmed.

He will play Pat, a charmer who seduces taxi controller Eileen Grimshaw but fails to mention he is married.

Hughes, 41, makes his debut in the show next month and has already filmed his first scenes where he and Eileen meet in the Rovers Return.

He was the youngest winner of the Perrier Comedy Award in 1990 and has appeared in The Last Detective and panel show Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

An ITV spokesman said: "Pat and Eileen get on instantly. It's not very long before they are enjoying steamy sessions.

"It's a great to have Sean on the show - there is brilliant chemistry between the two."
