Who return after Daltrey illness

Rock group The Who have returned to the stage after illness forced singer Roger Daltrey to postpone a week of concerts.

"Boy, it feels good to be out of bed," Daltrey told the audience in Arkansas half an hour into the band's set.

He abandoned a concert in Florida last week after one song. Guitarist Pete Townshend told the audience the singer had suspected bronchitis.

Two further concerts were postponed as Daltrey recovered. The Florida show has been rescheduled for 25 March.

Wednesday's show in Little Rock, Arkansas, saw the singer perform all but one song in a 95-minute set.

Throughout the show, he could be seen sipping drinks and coughing while away from the microphone.

Viral infection

Townshend wrote on his blog that the remaining three concerts on the band's North American tour will go ahead.

"Roger has been advised by no less then three doctors that he is OK to perform," he said.

"Although I think he may still find the next few days hard (more shows in a row than we normally do) I'm sure we'll be great."

The guitarist also revealed that Daltrey had spent time in hospital after contracting a viral infection.

The Who's world tour comes to Europe later in the spring and they will play dates in the UK in May and June.

They have already played almost 50 venues in the US and Canada since the tour started in September.
