Five Life to screen Cox's serial
Courteney Cox in Dirt
Courteney Cox is also the show's executive producer
Digital station Five Life is to screen former Friends star Courteney Cox's US TV series Dirt this summer.

The show, which sees Cox play a Hollywood tabloid magazine editor, is said to "expose the dark underside of Los Angeles' glamorous lifestyle".

A spokeswoman for Five said the programme "fits better on a specialist channel", but did not rule out an airing on its main terrestrial station.

The network's digital offshoots, Five Life and Five US, launched in October.

Caked in mud

Dirt is made by ABC Television Studio in the US and airs on cable channel FX, where it ranks as the top-rating show in its regular Tuesday night slot.

The first season of 13 episodes included guest slots for Cox's former Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston - which will air in the US on 27 March - and her husband David Arquette.

Aniston played one of Cox's rivals in the show.

Cox's character is Lucy Spiller, whose photographer Don Konkey - played by British actor Ian Hart - provides shocking images of the Hollywood glitterati and takes the glamour out of Tinseltown.

As a publicity stunt for the show, the 42-year old actress, who played Monica in Friends, was photographed caked in mud.
