Actress Emily Symons has been voted off Dancing on Ice, while Blue Peter presenter Zoe Salmon has been evicted from Celebrity Fame Academy.

On the ITV skating show on Saturday, Emmerdale star Symons lost out in the skate-off to pop singer Duncan James.

Meanwhile, Salmon was sent packing from the BBC Comic Relief charity show after going up against CBBC host Angellica Bell in the final students' vote.

Fame Academy ends on Friday, while Dancing on Ice climaxes on Saturday.

This week's Dancing on Ice beat its BBC rival in the ratings, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The first instalment of Dancing on Ice on ITV1 was seen by an average of 7.7 million people, with 6.5 million tuning in for the skate-off.

The show went ahead after a review of its phone voting procedures.

The three remaining contestants, who will go through to next week's final, are Duncan James, actress Clare Buckfield and the hot favourite, former rugby player Kyran Bracken.

On BBC One, the first Fame Academy performances were watched by 5.9 million, dropping to 5.4 million for the results show.

Eight celebrities are left, with former EastEnders star Shaun Williamson hotly tipped to win when the show ends during Comic Relief.
