Singer Bobby Brown has been freed from jail after paying $19,000 (£9,701) in late child support and court costs.

Mr Brown, 38, who is in the process of a divorce from Whitney Houston, spent three days in jail after being arrested in Massachusetts.

A judge ordered him to be held until he paid the mother of his two children, Kim Ward, the money he owed.

His lawyer, Phaedra Parks, said he was a star when the agreement was made but now is "not always able to find work".

An arrest warrant was issued in October, after he failed to show up at a hearing on overdue child support.

The Grammy award-winner started his career with the group New Edition before going on to have a string of solo hits and a successful album with Don't Be Cruel.
