Monkeys sign for Spanish festival
Benicassim festival
Franz Ferdinand and Morrissey played the festival in 2006
British rock group Arctic Monkeys have been announced as one of the main draws at this summer's Benicassim Festival.

Iggy Pop and The Stooges, Human League and The Magic Numbers will also play at the event, which takes place in July.

Situated between the Spanish cities of Barcelona and Valencia, Benicassim has hosted the festival for 13 years.

Around one-third of those attending the event last year travelled from the UK, attracted by cheap air fares and high-profile bands.

Franz Ferdinand, Depeche Mode and The Pixies were the headline acts in 2006, with The Strokes, Morrissey and Madness further down the bill.

Other bands announced for this year's line-up include Brazilian rockers CSS, The Hives and !!!.

Tickets are already on sale, and more acts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
