Pavarotti working on new material

Pavarotti had surgery for pancreatic cancer last year
Opera singer Luciano Pavarotti, who is battling pancreatic cancer, is "very positive" and recording a new album, according to his manager.

Terri Robson dismissed a story in Italian magazine Diva e Donna which claimed one of Pavarotti's daughters said he knew he would "die soon".

Ms Robson said Giuliana Pavarotti was "horrified her words were twisted" in the publication.

She said the 71-year-old tenor laughed when told about the story.

'Feeling stronger'

The article originally appeared in a German magazine, Bunte. Ms Robson claimed comments made by Ms Pavarotti had been taken out of context.

The twice-married father of four said he is "feeling stronger" as he divides his time between his two homes in Italy.

As well as recording he is also teaching students, Ms Robson added.

It is hoped his album of classical religious music will be out early next year.

Pavarotti was forced to cancel the remaining dates on his farewell tour last year after doctors discovered he was suffering from cancer.

Surgery in New York followed and within weeks he revealed how he planned to return to the stage after his recovery.
