Pop star Kylie Minogue has been named the best-dressed female by Glamour magazine, dethroning model Kate Moss.

The 38-year-old was awarded the number one spot for her sophisticated new look after time away from the spotlight recovering from breast cancer.

"We've seen a newer, softer-looking Kylie," said editor Jo Elvin, who praised her "classic personal style".

Moss dropped to fourth place while her boyfriend, singer Pete Doherty, was named worst-dressed male.

Minogue, who recently returned to the stage following her treatment for breast cancer, was chosen for her "Parisian chic" look.

Fashion flops

"She's still sexy, but she's not flaunting that side of herself in gold hotpants any more," said Elvin.

Victoria Beckham came second in the list of best-dressed females, achieving recognition for her fearless approach.

Other celebrities in fashion file were pop star Gwen Stefani, actress Sienna Miller and Rachel Bilson from the recently-cancelled TV series The OC.

The worst-dressed female was footballer Steven Gerrard's fiancee Alex Curran, closely followed by glamour model Jodie Marsh, music divas Beyonce and Britney Spears and tabloid-regular Jordan.

Jordan's husband, Peter Andre, also featured in the list of worst-dressed men alongside Russell Brand and Britney Spear's estranged husband Kevin Federline.
