Actor Tom Sizemore has pleaded with a judge not to send him to prison, after admitting violating his parole.
The 45-year-old star of Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down was arrested in May on suspicion of drug possession.
"If you would please just give me one more chance for myself," Mr Sizemore pleaded with Judge Cynthia Rayvis in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
"I can guarantee that I will give it everything that's good about me." The judge deferred sentencing to next week.
She suggested that the Hollywood star has shown he "cannot successfully sustain or complete" probation.
The actor could face up to 16 months' imprisonment.
Suspended sentence
Mr Sizemore has been on probation since October 2004, when he was given a 16-month suspended jail sentence for possessing methamphetamine.
In February 2006, he admitted breaching that probation and was ordered to have weekly drug tests and attend a treatment clinic.
Last month police arrested Sizemore in Bakerfield, north of Los Angeles, to investigate possession of methamphetamine, being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of narcotic paraphernalia, detectives said.
He has been in jail since 5 June and has pleaded not guilty to seven drug-related charges.
